Fostering
Fostering a dog is one of the most rewarding things you can do. Unlike many rescues, we don't have a kennel where we keep the dogs in our care. This means that all of the dogs in our care go from the surrendering family directly into a foster home. Fosters not only provide love and care for the dogs, but they also help us get to know the dog. This is undoubtable the most important part because it's the knowledge we gain while the dog is in their foster home that enables us to make the best decisions for the dogs on their furever placement.

Feedback from some of our foster volunteers:
Fostering with NNR was wonderful! Even though I live far away I had a supportive group surrounding me every step! They were super responsive about any questions, and they cheered us on as we had new experiences and new adventures. Fostering through NNR was one of the highlights of this year! ~Melissa (Foster Momma)
Fostering with NNR has been so much fun! Everyone from the initial application checkers to the placement coordinators has been easy to work with and highly communicative. If you’re looking for ways to get involved or volunteer, this is a great organization to partner with! ~Kelsey (Foster Momma)
My wife and I are from the Show Me State of Missouri and we recently agreed to Foster a 6.5 year old female Landseer Newf. Our intentions at the time were to only foster the dog to help out in the rescue and get her into a better stable and loving environment. Sophie quickly won us over with her sweetness and we did adopt her. NNR has been totally supportive calling us and checking up on Sophie wanting to assist in any way possible. NNR is an outstanding organization staffed with volunteer professionals who all share the same goals and commitments' to help out Dog's in Need. Thank You NNR we will continue to help out and support your great organization. ~Ray (Foster Fail Dad)
To all of our fosters and volunteers. I read this poem shortly after I started fostering dogs several years ago. It's stuck with me ever since. I hope it touches each of your hearts the way it touched mine
Dear Foster Mom:
There I sat, alone and afraid,
You got a call and came right to my aid.
You bundled me up with blankets and love,
And, when I needed it most, you gave me a hug.
I learned that the world was not all that scary and cold,
That sometimes there is someone to have and to hold.
You taught me what love is, you helped me to mend,
You loved me and healed me and became my first friend.
And just when I thought you'd done all you do,
There came along not one new lesson, but two.
First you said, "Sweetheart, you're ready to go,
I've done all I can, and you've learned all I know."
Then you bundled me up with a blanket and kiss,
Along came a new family, they even have kids!
They took me to their home, forever to stay,
At first I thought you sent me away.
Then that second lesson became perfectly clear,
No matter how far, you will always be near.
And so, Foster Mom, you know I've moved on,
I have a new home, with toys and a lawn.
But I'll never forget what I learned that first day,
You never really give your fosters away.
You gave me these thoughts to remember you by,
We may never meet again, and now I know why.
You'll remember I lived with you for a time,
I may not be yours, but you'll always be mine.
